Due to the high volume of appointment requests, we encourage you to call or come in for a drop-in if appointments are not available. Please note that hours are subject to change and there is limited availability for drop-in sessions on Fridays.

The Counseling Office is closed on October 10th, November 11th, 27th & 28th and December 24th-December 31st.

Must be an active Cuesta student to schedule a 30 or 60-minute Counseling appointment.

Please read important information regarding your counseling appointment:
To check-in for your appointment on the San Luis Obispo Campus:
Enter the 3100 building for Student Services and Check-in at Counseling window.

To check-in for your appointment on the North County Campus:
Enter the N1100 building (campus center building), go to the 2nd floor.

Both campuses require a Parking Permit while semesters are in session. 
If you don't have a semester pass, you can purchase a daily pass for $4 at a kiosk.

Make sure to have a current phone number on file. The counselor will call you directly at the time of your meeting.

  • Access to a computer during your appointment is ideal.
  • Please be in a quiet, distraction free area.
  • Have something to take notes.

Please arrive on time and check in with the counseling assistant for your appointment.

Students who arrive more than 10 minutes late may be marked as a no-show or need to reschedule.

To ensure the safety and well-being of our campus community, please adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines. If you are feeling unwell, experiencing any symptoms related to COVID-19, or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive, we kindly urge you to refrain from coming to campus.   • At Cuesta College, we take your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal information very seriously. Unfortunately, due to the public nature of the Internet, it is impossible for us to guarantee complete privacy during your online counseling sessions. Please use discretion and common sense when providing personal information online. 

To fully benefit from an online counseling appointment, you are agreeing to:

  1. Have a counselor access and discuss your academic records
  2. Interact with the counselor in a productive, positive, and professional manner
  3. Provide information that is current and truthful about yourself, your academic records, and your educational goals
  4. Conduct the conversation in a private setting (without others viewing or listening) with good lighting and no distracting noises
  5. Not record the session without permission from the counselor

Drop-in counseling is on a first-come, first-served basis and is best for:

  • Credit Overload Petitions
  • Same semester class questions
  • Pass/No Pass grading options
  • Course add/drop questions

 The average wait time is 30 minutes. If you are waiting longer than 30 minutes for a telephone drop-in, please call the counseling office at (805)546-3138 to check drop-in status.
